JETAA USA is an incredible organization built on the combined strength and success of the 19 chapters across the United States. With common goals of promoting the JET Program, assisting returning JETs with acclimating to life in the U.S. and strengthening the ties between JET alumni and the community, it is vital for us to work together to increase the visibility and success of the JET Program and JETAA on a national and international level.

I am very passionate about the success of the organization which I believe I have demonstrated over the past 12 years since finishing my time in Japan.   I am running for a 3rd term as a Country Representative to continue my work of building a strong national organization that works together to elevate us to the next level.  I want to continue to have an open dialogue with all chapter leaders and provide information and success stories from each of the chapters so that we can learn from each other.  Every chapter is led by amazing, vibrant and dedicated alumni who commit so much time and energy to promoting the JET Program, putting on events, increasing membership, and strengthening community connections. I want to help orchestrate a central place where we can all benefit from our individual unique contributions.

I believe that by utilizing alumni as speakers at the National & Regional Conferences it allowed us to directly focus on the immediate needs of our chapters and provide tangible ideas to implement in their regions.  If re-elected as country representative, I want to continue to tap into each chapter’s successes and share them throughout the year and not wait until a major conference.   I want to work with chapters to provide more programs and web-based offerings so that alumni can join virtually to gain the same benefits as alumni residing near the main chapter.

This year marks the 30th Anniversary of the JET Program and we have so much to celebrate!  I am committed to working with a team of alumni to make this year’s National Conference and All-Alumni Reunion a celebration of what we have achieved in the past 30 years and focus on what is to come in the future.

These past two years as Country Representative, I feel I not only accomplished what I set out to do, but surpassed it.  Through increasing chapter communication, National and Regional Conference support, and providing resources to our chapters, I have furthered JETAA on the road to success.

  • Provided support for all National and Regional Conferences by working closely with the hosting chapters
  • Maintained a calendar of all events happening across the country that is posted on the JETAAUSA website (link)
  • Hosted a logo contest to get our new amazing JETAA USA logo (link)
  • Reached out to chapter leaders to get photos and information to send out e-blasts sharing chapter’s events and successes (link)
  • Created branded @jetaausa e-mail addresses
  • Updated the website to share all pertinent National Conference information before and after each conference (link)
  • Represented JETAA USA on the international level at the 30th anniversary celebration in Japan
  • Worked closely with AJET alumni director facilitating connections with all our chapters

As Country Representative, I have wanted to help chapters utilize the amazing benefits of USJETAA.  This non-profit extension of our organization can help all chapters elevate their events, offerings, and support to their local members.   I am dedicated to assisting USJETAA’s membership database so we can better communicate and connect alumni.

I’ve been a member of the New York alumni chapter since returning from Japan in 2005. My involvement with JETAANY for the past 12 years has allowed me to see this organization grow tremendously not only in membership but strengthening our visibility in the community. I currently sit as the Chair of the Board of Directors and have had the opportunity to represent JETAA at many high level meetings and events including creating an open forum of communication with the Tokyo Governor and his office to help open the door to the expansion of the JET Program in Tokyo. I have also met with many representatives of the CLAIR office in New York and Tokyo to continually share the successes and contributions that JETAA provides to the JET Program as a whole.

I want to continue the strong working relationship with AJET and alumni chapter leaders around the world.  Having attended the 30th Anniversary celebration in Japan last fall, I had the honor of making connections with international leaders and hearing about all the amazing things they are doing around the world.  Through my work and relationship with the chapters in the U.S., I believe I can properly represent JETAA USA on the international level.

Honoring the fast approaching 30th anniversary of JET I see this as a wonderful opportunity to truly highlight all our success.  I believe my experience, passion and dedication can contribute much to the national efforts of JETAA. I sincerely appreciate the consideration to be elected as one of the U.S. Country Representatives for a 3rd term.  I am truly passionate in seeing the growth and longevity of the JET Program and the alumni association.
